Saving and Loading Files

Acquired data can be saved in a data file for subsequent analysis, thereby allowing the data collection process to be separated from the data analysis process. Acquisition Setup and Bus Analysis Setup information can also be stored and retrieved allowing, for example, a preferred color scheme, acquisition setup, or bus analysis to be loaded at any time prior to or following the acquisition or retrieval of the data.

Saving and Loading Acquired Data

Acquired data can be saved to a file by clicking on the File–>Save Data as… menu item from the menu bar.  The data can then be recalled at any time for plotting, printing, or additional analysis by clicking on the icon on the tool bar, or the File–>Open a Saved Data File menu item from the menu bar (see User Interface for assistance).  When data is loaded from a file, the sample rate field in the Data Acquisition Setup menu will automatically be set to the value used when the data was acquired.

Saving and Loading Setup files

Setup files are used to store and retrieve program setup information.  All data entered on the Data Acquisition Setup and Bus Analysis Setup menus is saved in the setup files.  Once a desired analysis has been configured, the information can be saved to a file using the File–>Save Setup as… menu item from the menu bar.  The setup information can then be retrieved at any time, either prior to, or subsequent to data acquisition, by clicking on the  icon on the tool bar, or the File–>Open a Saved Setup File menu item from the menu bar. (see User Interface for assistance).

A note about Sample Rate settings

The sample rate setting (which is located on the Acquisition Setup menu), like all other setup parameters, will be stored to, and loaded from, the setup file.  Unlike other setup parameters, however, the sample rate setting is also modified when an acquired data file is loaded.  This insures that the sample rate setting in the Acquisition Setup menu is consistent with the setting that was used to acquire a newly loaded data set. Note that changing the sample rate setting in the Acquisition Setup menu, either directly or by loading a setup file, will have no effect upon data which was previously acquired or which is being currently viewed, but will only change the setting used when a new acquisition is initiated.
